God’s Miraculous Provisions – Saving Adam
This is the hardest letter I will ever write. I am humbled. My name is Devra Lindsay. Last year, my husband Adam was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) with chromosome deletions. He underwent a bone marrow transplant at Methodist Hospital, and for a time, we believed we were on the road to his complete healing. But now, Adam is facing a life-threatening relapse—this time with two high-risk mutations that make his cancer even more aggressive. One of those mutations is chemo-resistant.
Our trusted team at Methodist told us that his only chance of survival begins with a clinical trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center—a trial specifically designed to target both of the mutations he carries. Our lead physician at Methodist’s Stem Cell Transplant Program reached out immediately to the Head of Leukemia at MD Anderson. Adam was screened, accepted into their system, and we were ready to begin.
But the process came to a halt.
We learned that MD Anderson no longer accepts any individual insurance plans. Due to a policy change, we were dropped from coverage at the beginning of the year—and it has left us in crisis. Following the clinical trial, Adam will return to Methodist for a second bone marrow transplant with a new donor. While we were granted a single case agreement for outpatient care for this year, that was before this relapse. Until we can secure the right insurance coverage to begin the trial and cover the transplant, his life hangs in the balance.
The Mountain We Are Climbing
I have climbed many mountains over this past year—and I will not stop until I reach the summit. Because the summit means saving my husband’s life. Time is not on our side. Cancer does not pause while you’re fighting to secure coverage. We are praying and working to be approved for small group insurance through our family-owned wellness center, which is also my ministry—the ministry of care we’ve been providing to our beautiful clients in the community for over 25 years.
Even with that hope in motion, the financial hardship we’ve endured has not been easy to navigate. There were long stretches of time when I could not leave Adam’s side—and that is exactly where I wanted to be, and where I needed to be—as his wife and his caregiver. And now, I am preparing to do it again with unwavering faith and profound love.
Please Stand with Me
It is a privilege to walk this path once more, because Adam is strong. He is resilient. He is a warrior. He refuses to be sick. But he is. And I cannot—I will not—let the man I love be taken from me like this. I am a woman of unwavering faith, doing all I can to move mountains, yet some mountains require a community.
With deep gratitude, I honor Helping Hands Ministry and the platform they have built through their nonprofit organization—a ministry that has extended hope and compassion to countless lives over the past 29 years. Through their 501(c)(3) status, every donation made is tax-deductible, offering both a spiritual and heartfelt blessing to those who are lead to give.
Please stand with us.

God’s Divine Blessings
