At Helping Hands, we believe in the power of community, dignity, and celebration. That’s why we were honored to contribute to a recent event hosted by the incredible Dream Weavers in Clarkesville, Georgia. The night was more than a gathering—it was a beautiful reflection of the value and joy that every person brings to the world.

Though we couldn’t attend in person, the stories shared afterward deeply moved our team. One organizer wrote:

“Hey Brittany… it was a fabulous night and I am sorry that y’all could not be here to see the fun……. There were tears when we gave the plaques for good citizenship, as some of these folks have never received one. The food was great and the dancing was a hoot! I am waiting for the book we made for Helping Hands to be signed by the Dream Weavers and I will put it in the mail…… I will send photos as soon as I get permission from folks… thanks again for making the night very special…… I’d say we had a turnout of 90!”

These moments matter. The joy, the recognition, the shared laughter on the dance floor—all of it points to a deeper truth: everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated.

One of the standout highlights was the recognition of Billy, a cherished member of the Georgia Learning Community, known simply and affectionately by his first name—like Oprah, Madonna, or Michael. For 15 years, Billy has brought energy, humor, and heart to the Georgia Gathering event, making the door prize experience a legendary part of the conference.

“If he’s not there people are asking, ‘Where’s Billy? We need Billy!'”

Billy’s contributions extend far beyond door prizes. He’s taken part in opening ceremonies, stepped out of his comfort zone to perform, and shown time and again what it means to lead with heart.

One attendee shared this special note:

“Thank you, Billy and all the Dream Weavers for your contribution to the annual Gathering.”

And another added:

“I would like to thank Billy for being my door prize partner the past several years. His commitment and enthusiasm was an inspiration to me and hundreds of others. I love your big heart and huge spirit. Continue to shine bright.” — Kenzy
