Cameron Heverly

Our family has witnessed how quickly life can change – and how faithful God remains through it all. In just ten days, our fifteen-year-old son Cameron who has kyphosis endured three major spinal surgeries, one of which was an emergency procedure to remove a hematoma that had formed on his spinal cord. That hematoma caused a spinal cord injury, leaving him unable to walk. Since then, we have been in the hospital 45 days he has spent 30 of those days working tirelessly to regain strength and independence. At 6’3″, every part of his care requires extra accommodations – from mobility equipment to therapy exercises – yet Cameron continues to face each day with courage. As we prepare to bring Cameron home, we are trusting God to meet the needs that feel far beyond our reach. Our 1930s home is not wheelchair accessible – the hallways are narrow, the bathroom is too small, and our current vehicle cannot safely transport him. We’ve been blessed with help to build a ramp, but we still need a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, bedroom modifications, an adjustable bed, and a van equipped for his size and needs. We believe that God works through the hearts and hands of others, and we’re praying that He will lead the right people to help us make Cameron’s homecoming safe, comfortable, and full of hope. “With God all things are possible.” – Matthew 19:26
