Candle Light Foundation (CLF Uganda), is a Not-for-Profit Organization founded in 2001 with a mission to empower the less fortunate girls and women to live their dreams and reach their full potential through education, skills training and entrepreneurship.

Candle Light Foundation Uganda runs Candle Light High School which provides an education for those who have been less fortunate, provides skill sets that will create opportunities after graduation, and provides menstrual hygiene management training and reusable sanitary pads; so girls stay in school, have a safe space, grow in confidence and grow in self-esteem.

In Africa there are many girls who are from poor families, who will never have an education, are often abused, and are destined to produce babies and a life of toil and hardship. Those who are fortunate to be in school often miss school at time of menstruation due to lack of understanding of what is happening to their bodies and lack of sanitary pads and abuse and ridicule from the boys in their schools and their fathers at home. The Candle Light Foundation Uganda and the Candle Light High School provides an education for those who have been less fortunate, provides skill sets that will create opportunities after graduation, and provides menstrual hygiene management training to both girls and boys and sanitary pads for the girls; so girls stay in school, have a safe space, grow in confidence and grow in self esteem. The Candle Light High School provides the counselling and opportunities to help girls achieve their DREAMS.

Different Ways to Support CLF Uganda

1. School Extension/construction

“For $808, you can ensure that ten girls have a classroom in which to be educated for a year. For $81, you can ensure one girl has a safe classroom in which to learn”.

All money raised will go towards to expansion of the High School. More classrooms, more dormitories, larger dining room and kitchen, and better restrooms. This in turn means that more Girls can be provided with opportunities in a safe space where gender equality is encouraged. At present the school has capacity for 140 students. The new building will be able to support 700 students and for many years to come. There will be a Phase 1 followed by a phase 2

1. School Sponsorship Program- $40 per month per girl at CLF High School.

A girl will be able to have breakfast, and two meals a day at school and her teachers will be paid.

2. Reusable Sanitary Pads- $20 per girl for two years.

A girl receives a pack of 12 environmentally friendly reusable sanitary pads which will last for two or more years. This also provides employment for the

4. Scholastic materials, books, pens, pencils, uniforms, shoes.

5. Volunteering- Volunteer at Candle Light High School in Uganda, (Teaching, Sports, Community Outreach etc.)
