Derek and Robin Roberts

In our 25th year of marriage, Derek was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Most people see ALS as a death sentence; we see it as an opportunity to defy the odds. Whether God answers our prayer for supernatural healing or guides our path to find life-giving treatments, we are choosing to be full of hope, treasuring every day that we are granted.

A message from friends:

ALS is a fatal, progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord. The diagnosis alone was devastating for the Roberts, but a few weeks later Derek’s company reorganized and he lost his job. Together these events create a significant financial and emotional burden. Physical symptoms would not allow Derek to secure another job and he has gone on disability.

The yearly cost of ALS care is massive, and these expenses are quickly accumulating. In order for Derek to get the medical care that he needs (both traditional and alternative) the Roberts family will need financial support. Helping Hands offers a tax-deductible way to give to their family!
