Hear His Voice Uganda

Hear His Voice (HHV) Uganda is a Not for Profit Organization registered in Uganda under registration number No: 80020000155805.  It was established in 2016 by parents of the first Child Cochlear Implant child user in Uganda.  They mobilized other families and parents of Children with hearing loss to embrace technology and Listening and Spoken Language habilitation strategies.  This effort resulted into the formation of a strong advocacy network which has been very instrumental in spearheading many achievement in the Ear and Hearing Care services in Uganda.

With a mission to promote and offer early diagnosis and management of hearing loss among children and individuals so that they can actively participate in a normal life without stigma, Hear His Voice Uganda has distinguished herselfin demonstrating possibilities amidst scarcity.  We are growing slowly and steadily in our service to children and families using Cochlear Implants and Hearing Aids to hear.  We are intentional about our philosophy of building family capacities so that they can empower their young listeners to “learn to listen and to listen to learn” so that they can become independent communicators and positively contribute to the well being of their families and the community at large.

In order to meet this mandate and to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to young cochlear Implant users effectively, we rely on the generosity of individuals, and community-minded stakeholders for support.

Currently it costs about $296.58 per month to habilitate a child with a Cochlear Implant at the rebab facility.

Where they will:

  1. Receive intensive Speech and Language Therapy with Auditory Verbal (AV) Emphasis. $29 per week per child
  2. Receive specialized academic and education training in LSL and audition. $31 per week per child
  3. Get regular audiology stimulation troubleshooting and monitoring of their devices which is critical in ensuring good auditory input. $29 per week per child

Parents and families on the other hand do receive regular family counseling and training aimed at equipping them with knowledge and skills about Hearing loss, technology and rehab techniques and to empower them be the first circle support for the children at home and in advocating for them.

As a way to enlarge this formidable effort, we would like to appeal to you for support in raising $6000 per month to be able to efficiently run the facility and expand services and amenities for the children who most need them.
