Jacob and Abbie Acosta
Jacob Acosta is a soccer trainer and musician in Mansfield, Texas. At 27 years old, just 6 months into a new marriage, Jacob had a seizure in his sleep which led to the discovery of an egg sized tumor on the left frontal lobe of his brain. In June of 2022, Jacob had his first surgery to remove the tumor.
A year and a half later, in March of 2024, Jacob had his second ever seizure in his sleep. After an MRI, we found that the tumor was growing again and could potentially become worse. He was scheduled for a second craniotomy on May 15th, 2024. Following this surgery, his doctors decided to go ahead with 6 weeks of proton-radiation therapy, towards the end of which he’d begin taking a chemotherapy pill. He will be taking this pill for the next 2 years.
Experiencing medical issues of this magnitude so early in life and in marriage is enough to shatter someone’s faith, but Jacob has held on strong to the plan he knows God has for his life. Even in the chaos of medical bills and anxiety inducing appointments, the provision and protection of Christ has been so evident in Jacob’s story. We’ve seen firsthand how God has His hands in every area of our lives and never again can we doubt the power of prayer.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want… Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
Psalms 23:1-4 NKJV
