Katie Saporsky
Katie Brown Saporsky (daughter of Keith & Debbie Brown), lives in Georgia with her husband and 4 children ages 9, 8, 5 and 3 months. Since the birth of her 4th child, Katie has been diagnosed with Filum Disease.
Filum Disease is the root cause of Chiari Brain Malformation, Scoliosis and Syringomyelia (cyst develops in the spinal cord). It is often misdiagnosed and can look like MS, Parkinson’s, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and other diseases. At present she suffers from hearing loss, constant debilitating migraines, and numbness throughout her body. It drastically affects her daily life as a wife, mom, and nurse, making it difficult to maintain her work schedule.
Because Filum Disease is not widely known or studied in North America, or anywhere outside the Institut Chiari & Syringomyelia & Escoliosis de Barcelona (ICSEB), it is necessary for Katie to have the surgery in Spain.
The surgery Katie needs is not an overnight fix. Post surgery healing requires tremendous time and patience since the brain and nervous system have been impacted by years of strain and tension.
Though, the ICSEB only promises that the extradural sectioning surgery stops the progression of the disease, they have seen massive symptom improvements in most of their patients.
We would like to help Katie raise funds to help offset the costs of this procedure. The procedure itself costs $22,847.72. Katie is also required to stay 10 business days for follow-up and infection control. Additional costs for hotel ($3,044.20) and air travel ($1,776.30) brings the total bill to over $28,000.00.
