Tom Foster

On January 11, 2023, Tom went into cardiac arrest during a planned bronchoscopy to biopsy a suspicious lung nodule. After a lengthy ICU stay and a litany of tests, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Small Cell Lung Cancer. He had chemotherapy and radiation treatment at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital with very good outcomes. However, over the last 15 months, he has had set back after set back and is now at Gaylord Specialty Rehabilitation Hospital in an attempt to wean off mechanical ventilation after a series of respiratory failure episodes and 7 weeks in the Yale ICU over January to March of this year.

Tom always says he relies on the three F’s in life “Family, Faith and Friends”. That trifecta, led by his wife Karen and daughter Courtney,  have certainly carried him through and helped him to navigate this course and continue to do so in what is proving to be his toughest battle yet.
