Antonio and Katie Gonzalez

Tony and Katie’s 7 children are all adopted out of foster care, having suffered from severe and ongoing abuse and neglect.  After their 1st adoption of 1–15-month-old baby girl 10 years earlier who came into care due to extreme neglect, their 2nd adoption was a sibling set of 3, 2 of the 3, also having suffered extremely severe abuse and neglect.  3 years later, they adopted another sibling set of 3.  Tony and Katie have spent the last 13 years and thousands of dollars on such things as horse therapy, neurofeedback, counselling, acupuncture, vision therapy, vestibular therapy, etc. in an attempt to help their children (2 boys and 5 girls) overcome their struggles caused by the early traumas.  Unfortunately, a few years ago, Tony and Katie discovered some things going on that required them to remove their 2 boys from the home and to need to raise and borrow a lot of money to put them through a therapeutic program.

Thankfully, both boys have completed the program and are doing well.  But there are many neglected needs that have piled up with their remaining children over the last few years because Tony and Katie were busy trying to just keep the family together and handle the emotional issues.  There is still a lot of emotional fallout due to the boy’s actions.  Tony and Katie are trying to address these needs before their remaining children leave the home, these 4 all being within 1 or 2 years from age 18.  These are items like intensive educational therapy for all 4 of the children to treat their major academic gaps, a trauma-informed residential program for 1 of our girls who was most affected by our boy’s actions and who is struggling making good choices, family counselling to continue working through everyone’s struggles, and now medical expenses as 2 of their girls are now dealing with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

Tony and Katie are working very hard to bring in more money, but after cleaning out their own retirement and savings accounts and still paying off loans from the previous year’s challenges, they are struggling to provide these needed services for their children over the next 2 years.  Any help offered is greatly appreciated.
